Murphy, PhD, a pioneer in the field of machine learning and analytics for biological data, will be joining the board and working with other experts in a variety of fields to guide the POAI’s scientific initiatives and growth strategy. An expert in developing algorithms and models designed to understand biological systems and relationships, Murphy currently serves as head of the computational biology department at Carnegie Mellon University (“CMU”). He has also served a professor of biological sciences, biomedical engineering and machine learning, all at CMU. He is a recipient of an Alexander von Humboldt Foundation Senior Research Award and is a fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering; he also served as president of the International Society for Advancement of Cytometry. “Dr. Murphy brings a depth of knowledge that allows us to expand the boundaries of scientific research and how we can use our technology and domain expertise to generate proprietary data for our partners.
