New school for animation comes to Kansas City.

On January 9th, 2023, Hollywood Animation Academy began classes in Kansas City as the first specialty school for animation in the country. With a 2-year college-level program like a trade school, HAA delivers a revolutionary new training experience taught by professional animators and directors from Disney, Warner Bros., Sony PlayStation, and more.  

Founded by KC native Gavin Dell, the school offers 100% animation courses designed with the foremost intent to help their students to get hired in the film, game, and television industries. Every assignment is carefully chosen to give students the skills and portfolio pieces they need based on insider information from major Hollywood Studios. Dell actively visits high schools in the KC area giving presentations on animation careers. Students are blown away by his credits, stories, and insight into the industries they live and breathe in their daily lives. 

The foundational instructors are both 30-year veteran artists with credits on The Simpsons, Looney Tunes, The Little Mermaid, Scooby Doo, Disenchantment, Futurama, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Thing, Silent Hill, Gears of War, and Tomb Raider. To top it off the students will get a visit via zoom once a week by a Master Class animation artist currently working in a major studio. This gives students a window into what is currently happening in the industry from director-level artists as the students train to work there.  

The animation industry does not require a college degree, so HAA has streamlined the process saving students half the cost of college while still delivering training on a level that far exceeds. The school is in the Centriq training building at 1740 W 92nd Street Kansas City, Missouri between Rockhurst High School, and Ward Parkway shopping center.
