UK-based electronic duo Bicep have announced SLUG, an album scheduled for release through Ninja Tune on January 29, 2027. Alongside the announcement, they released “Gas,” “Ultra” and “Equarium,” accompanied by a short film in three parts developed by director Alex Takács.

Lauren Duffus and SOARR appear on “Gas,” while “Ultra” brings together Eartheater and Saskia. Kehina contributes to “Equarium.” Other collaborators listed on the album include Clark, George Riley, KUČKA, Sassy 009 and Rowena Fysx.

SLUG comes after Bicep’s CHROMA series. The duo had previously released “Air,” “Lemonder” and “Viper,” which also appear on the new album. Bicep said the contrast between slugs found on land and those in the sea inspired the title, suggesting a world beyond initial appearances.

Takács said a report about an expensive racing pigeon stolen in Brussels prompted his interest in pigeon breeding and helped inspire the films. Bicep said the visual work extends their studio themes into niche communities, including pigeon fanciers, free parties and demolition derbies.
