Brothers awaits renewal as stars say no second-season plans are in place
Co-creator Lee Eisenberg is interested in continuing the Apple TV comedy, whose first season ended November 4 with an unresolved storyline.

Apple TV had not renewed Brothers as of November 4, and stars Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson told TV Insider they had not developed plans for another season. The comedy’s eight-episode debut season ended that day after premiering in September.
McConaughey said the creative team conceived the first season as a self-contained story rather than mapping out several seasons. Harrelson also said there had been no planning beyond the initial run.
Co-creator Lee Eisenberg, however, told TV Insider he would like to continue if both actors return. He said he deliberately left a storyline unresolved to allow for more episodes, although his ideas remain preliminary.
The finale confirms that the actors’ fictional counterparts are biological brothers and sends them on a search for their father, who is in prison. Eisenberg said a continuation could follow their travels and an eventual meeting with him.
The premise draws on McConaughey and Harrelson’s friendship and their real-life speculation about possibly being half-brothers. Neither actor has publicly confirmed a biological connection. Apple TV is streaming all eight episodes of the first season.
