Production on The Families Stone is underway in Brooklyn, New York. Sarah Jessica Parker and Dermot Mulroney were spotted arriving to shoot scenes on October 21, while Claire Danes and Luke Wilson were also seen at the set.

Thomas Bezucha will write and direct the sequel, reprising his behind-the-camera roles on the 2005 holiday movie The Family Stone. Craig T. Nelson, Rachel McAdams and Elizabeth Reaser are among the returning cast, alongside Brian White, Paul Schneider and Tyrone Giordano.

The story brings the family back together for Christmas, 20 years after matriarch Sybil’s death. The late Diane Keaton played Sybil. Nelson’s character, the family’s father Kelly, surprises his relatives with news that he has fallen in love with another woman and has invited her to meet them.

Maggie Siff was photographed at the set as well, suggesting she may be joining the cast. Her involvement was not confirmed. Siff did not appear in the original film.
