The second season of It: Welcome to Derry is expected to debut in late 2027 or 2028, according to Deadline. The series received its renewal in 2026, but the reported timeframe is not a firm premiere date.

Showrunner Brad Caleb Kane said the scripts were roughly halfway written and a production schedule was in place. He also said Andy Muschietti was working on casting. Kane described plans for a larger second season and a different portrayal of Pennywise.

HBO’s synopsis sets the story in 1935, amid the Great Depression. It focuses on the massacre of the Bradley Gang: bank robbers whose stop in Derry to purchase ammunition brings them into contact with horror. The series draws on Stephen King’s novel IT and the film adaptations directed by Muschietti.

Bill Skarsgard plays Pennywise in the series, though his return for the second season has not been confirmed. The first season began in October of 2025 and concluded in December of 2025.
