James Hetfield says Turnstile declined Metallica tour offer
The Metallica frontman discussed the invitation on SiriusXM’s Riff Life, praising Turnstile’s live performances.

Metallica frontman James Hetfield said Turnstile turned down an invitation to tour with his band, telling listeners to his SiriusXM show Riff Life that the hardcore group was already doing well on its own.
Hetfield praised the energy of Turnstile’s concerts and encouraged listeners to see the band perform. He said that although its recordings sounded strong, watching the group onstage offered a fuller sense of its appeal.
He also said Metallica had spent some time with Turnstile and described those encounters warmly. During the discussion, he mentioned guitarist Meg Mills. Hetfield had previously been seen watching Turnstile from the side of the stage.
Turnstile recently performed for 60,000 people at the National Mall in Washington, DC. Metallica, meanwhile, had Knocked Loose as an opening act during the European portion of its M72 World Tour.
