Johnny Depp has said he would consider returning as Captain Jack Sparrow if the plans for concluding Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean franchise were right. Speaking to Entertainment Tonight while promoting his new movie Ebenezer, the actor said his interest would be in giving the series a better send-off.

Depp also indicated that he would not refuse an invitation to work with Pirates producer Jerry Bruckheimer. He described their friendship as close and said he trusted Bruckheimer, expressing willingness to join him on any project.

Bruckheimer previously said he had discussed a return with Depp for a sixth installment and that a screenplay was being developed. No further update has followed, and a sixth film has not been officially confirmed.

Depp last appeared in the franchise’s fifth movie, which reached theaters in 2017. His comments did not amount to confirmation that he would reprise the role.
