Star Echo Heavy Dove, the second album from Chicago musician Mia Joy, is set for a 1/15/27 release on Fire Talk. Alongside the announcement, Joy released the lead single “Wings Of Desire,” inspired by the 1987 movie bearing that name.

The record follows her debut, Spirit Tamer, released in 2021. Its only guest artist is Midwife, who appears on “Circle.” “Comet,” a separate recent release featuring Peel Dream Magazine, does not appear on the album.

Joy said her first viewing of Wenders’ film gave her a way to articulate her feelings and led her to write the single. She also described being drawn to lonely characters and to experiences of solitude and longing.

Describing a recurring idea on Star Echo Heavy Dove, Joy said the album explores a tension between satisfaction in self-sufficiency and a willingness to embrace the vulnerability of desire. The tracklist also includes “4th Of July,” “Midnight,” “Yes You Can” and “Saturn II.”
