Michael Douglas says Jack Nicholson is well and no longer acting
Douglas said he still visits his longtime friend, who has largely withdrawn from Hollywood and public life.

Michael Douglas said Jack Nicholson is doing well and has stopped working, according to The Independent. Speaking at an event in Swansea, Wales, while promoting his memoir One Helluva Ride, Douglas said he continues to see his longtime friend.
Douglas described Nicholson spending time around his home in slippers and said he understood his decision to lead a quieter life. He also expressed regret that they had never performed together on screen.
Nicholson’s most recent film appearance was in How Do You Know, the 2010 romantic comedy whose cast included Owen Wilson, Reese Witherspoon and Paul Rudd. His public appearances since then have been infrequent. In February 2025, he introduced a musical performance by Adam Sandler during Saturday Night Live’s 50th anniversary special.
Although Douglas and Nicholson never shared an acting credit, Douglas produced One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest in 1975, with Nicholson playing Randle McMurphy. The film earned five Academy Awards. Douglas and fellow producer Saul Zaentz received the Best Picture award, while Nicholson’s performance brought him his first Oscar for Best Actor.
