My Chemical Romance are planning to record another album, Gerard Way told fans during a performance at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. Way said the band would probably forgo concerts during the year of recording, while expressing hope for a return to audiences in 2028.

The announcement came as the group toured to celebrate the 20th anniversary of The Black Parade. Its studio catalog most recently expanded with Danger Days: The True Lives Of The Fabulous Killjoys in 2010. The band later issued May Death Never Stop You, a greatest-hits collection, in 2014.

The group put out “The Foundations Of Decay” in 2022, but that song was not followed by a new studio album.

At the preceding Hollywood Bowl concert, the Used were the opening act, and the two bands exchanged guest appearances. Way performed “Buried Myself Alive” with the Used, while their Bert McCracken joined My Chemical Romance for “You Know What They Do To Guys Like Us in Prison.”
