Netflix renews The Diplomat for a fifth season

The Diplomat will return to Netflix for season five, following the debut of its fourth season. Netflix has not provided details about the next installment, while viewers can already stream all of season four.
The cast features Keri Russell playing Ambassador Kate Wyler and Rufus Sewell portraying Vice President Hal Wyler. Allison Janney plays President Grace Penn, with Bradley Whitford appearing as Todd Penn.
The fourth season puts Kate’s diplomatic efforts and troubled marriage under pressure. A catastrophic event disrupts the peace she negotiated between the United States and the United Kingdom, while also threatening the relationship she is trying to preserve.
Meanwhile, Grace and Hal plot to steal Russia’s most powerful weapon, pushing the United States toward war. Kate joins forces with Todd despite their uneasy relationship, seeking to prevent the pair’s alliance from disrupting the balance of power both internationally and at home.
