Netflix is introducing AI Discover, an experimental recommendation feature for its TV app that groups viewing suggestions into AI-generated themes. The company said it plans to expand access gradually, starting with English-language availability on supported TVs in the US.

The initial test pairs themes with clips from relevant movies or shows. Suggestions can reflect a viewer’s mood, who is watching with them or how much time they have. Other categories draw on recent viewing, new releases and popular titles.

Viewers can narrow their choices by selecting more specific themes or request a fresh set of categories. They can also save titles to their list and tell Netflix to stop suggesting a particular movie or show.

Netflix said the technology behind AI Discover responds to member feedback in real time and continues learning. The company described the feature as a testing space for ideas that could become part of its main service.

Accounts with access will have a Discover tab marked by a red gem in the app’s upper navigation menu. According to Variety, the feature will not be available on children’s profiles.
