Red Hot Chili Peppers revisited “Organic Anti-Beat Box Band” and “Blackeyed Blonde” for the first time since 2000 while headlining a Hollywood Palladium benefit celebrating the Silverlake Conservatory Of Music’s 25th anniversary. The 51-minute set marked their return to live performance after the January 2025 LA FireAid benefit.

Another selection, “Nevermind,” reunited the song with guitarist John Frusciante onstage for the first time since 1992. The group had performed it in 2019 without him. Frusciante’s solo contribution was a rendition of the Shirelles’ “Will You Love Me Tomorrow,” a song by Carole King and Gerry Goffin.

The evening also produced an unannounced Foo Fighters performance. Dave Grohl had been billed for the event, but his bandmates came onstage during “My Hero.” His daughter Violet took part in covers of “Nausea” by X and “Hanging On The Telephone” by the Nerves. The band’s selections also included Gerry Rafferty’s “Baker Street.”

Vince Staples performed with alumni of the conservatory on “Blackberry Marmalade” and “The Running Man,” with Jennifer Haack on guitar and Chloe Haack on bass. Flea, the Chili Peppers’ bassist, co-founded the Los Angeles school in 2001. Marc Maron served as host, while student group SCM All Stars and community marching band Hollywood Highsteppers were also on the bill.
