CBS has confirmed that Shantel VanSanten will reprise her role as Special Agent Nina Chase on FBI on November 16. The episode, “Posterity,” will reunite her with John Boyd, who plays Nina’s husband, Stuart Scola.

The return comes after the November 2 episode, “Atonement,” introduced an offer for Nina to head a task force in San Diego, California. Scola initially opposed the move because of its potential effect on their family. According to TV Insider, he reconsidered after his partner, Eva Ramos, played by Juliana Aidén Martinez, urged him to support Nina’s ambitions. He later left Nina a voicemail encouraging her to accept.

There is no confirmation that Boyd will depart the series, and CBS has made no announcement of an exit.

“Posterity,” Season 9’s seventh episode, centers on an online influencer’s murder. CBS’s synopsis says a camera belonging to the victim recorded a criminal wanted by the FBI. Nina helps the team pursue the suspect.

VanSanten was previously a regular on FBI: Most Wanted, which ended in 2025. Her last FBI appearance was in “Confetti,” broadcast February 23, 2026, when Nina and Scola married.
