Lionsgate and Meta are collaborating on a 3D version of The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping for a theatrical return in early 2027, TheWrap reported. The movie is scheduled to open in theaters on November 20 before receiving the additional release.

The project would mark Meta’s first conversion of a Hollywood feature into 3D, according to the report. Plans also call for viewing through Meta VR Glasses, with Dolby Vision, a 5K Infinite Display and Dolby Atmos spatial audio.

Director Francis Lawrence said in a statement that the filmmakers wanted audiences to feel immersed in Haymitch’s experience. He described the 3D adaptation as another way to bring viewers closer to the character’s perspective, both in theaters and eventually through Meta’s glasses.

Other films from Lionsgate could receive similar adaptations, according to the report, though no additional titles were named. Further details about the collaboration are expected to be announced later.
