An October 26 Instagram post from Vanessa Hudgens hinted at new music, pairing a recording-booth photograph with a video of her enjoying music. The actress and singer, 37, left the nature of the project unexplained in her caption.

Hudgens appears behind a microphone in the photograph and moves along to music in the video. A song added to the post prevents viewers from hearing what she is working on.

Her most recent new music came through the soundtrack for the 2021 movie musical Tick, Tick… Boom!, to which she contributed vocals on songs by Jonathan Larson. Earlier appearances included Phantoms’ “Lay with Me” in 2018 and the Shawn Hook collaboration “Reminding Me” in 2017.

For solo releases, her latest remains Identified, her second studio album, issued in 2008 and featuring “Sneakernight.” It followed V, her September 2006 debut album, whose singles included “Come Back to Me” and “Say OK.”
