Alanis Morissette said she is pansexual while speaking with the hosts of Handsome on its November 3 episode. The 52-year-old singer discussed her sexuality in an exchange near the close of the podcast.

Co-host Fortune Feimster brought up the men who had hurt Morissette and the songs that resulted from those experiences. She then asked whether those experiences had ever prompted the singer to want to be a lesbian.

“I’m pansexual, so, yeah,” Morissette, a seven-time Grammy winner, replied. When co-host Tig Notaro questioned whether she really was pansexual, Morissette affirmed it.

The hosts joked that the news should have opened their conversation. Morissette responded with a joke about preferring to save it for an epilogue.

Morissette and hip-hop artist Mario Treadway, who performs under the name Souleye, married in 2010. Their three children are Ever, 15, Onyx, 10, and Winter, 7.
