Becky And The Birds releases “Way Back To You” with two videos

Thea Gustafsson, the Swedish musician behind Becky And The Birds, has released her latest song, “Way Back To You.” Artist Ellen Nielsen created two separate minimalist videos to accompany it.

The singer, songwriter and producer recorded the track during sessions with Nick Velez, a longtime collaborator, in California. Its arrangement combines rhythmic elements with chopped-up vocal samples.

Gustafsson said she began with the drums, departing from her usual process, and developed the rest of the song around that initial feeling. She wanted an unpredictable, emotionally untidy sound, she said, describing the song’s theme as longing for something out of reach while still moving toward it.
