Carson Daly is adding a weekend assignment to his Today duties, becoming a Saturday Today co-anchor on November 7. He will replace Peter Alexander, who has left the program.

The 53-year-old former TRL host will work alongside co-anchor Laura Jarrett. The team also includes Joe Fryer as feature anchor and Angie Lassman as meteorologist.

Daly said in a statement that the Saturday role would be an addition to his weekday morning schedule. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity and joked that he would make pancakes for his colleagues rather than his children.

Libby Leist, Executive Vice President of Today and Lifestyle, welcomed the appointment, saying viewers would have another day each week with Daly. She also praised his pairing with Jarrett. Daly joined Today in 2013.
