Lin-Manuel Miranda and Eisa Davis announced the first performers for their Broadway musical Warriors on October 20, with Jasmine Cephas Jones cast as Swan. The production will open at New York City’s Lunt-Fontanne Theatre, where previews are scheduled to start March 9, 2027, before opening night on April 8, 2027.

Jones reprises her part from the 2024 concept album. Other Hamilton performers joining the production include Sasha Hutchings as Cowgirl, Julia Harriman as Mercy and Donald Webber Jr. as Masai. Amber Gray will play Ajax, while Aneesa Folds takes the role of Cleon.

Several roles will change hands from the recording: Sasha Allen succeeds Lauryn Hill as Cyrus, Webber takes over Masai from Colman Domingo, and Jaci Calderon replaces Phillipa Soo as Fox. Casey Likes, who appeared on the album as Jesse, will play Luther, previously performed by Kim Dracula. Further casting is still to come.

Drawing on Walter Hill’s 1979 film The Warriors and Sol Yurick’s 1965 novel, the musical follows a Coney Island gang wrongly blamed for killing gang leader Cyrus at a Bronx gathering. Its members face rival gangs as they attempt to return home and establish their innocence.

Miranda and Davis wrote the production’s book, score and lyrics, incorporating influences from hip-hop, salsa, ska and metal. Jenny Koons directs, with Andy Blankenbuehler serving as co-director and choreographer.

General ticket sales begin October 22 at 10 a.m. ET through Broadway Direct, following the October 20 presale launch for performances through June 13, 2027. A lottery offering US$79 tickets is scheduled to start January 11, 2027. Another lottery, offering US$19.79 seats in the first two rows, begins March 9, 2027.
