People magazine has chosen Noah Wyle as its Sexiest Man Alive for 2026. The actor, 55, whose television credits include The Pitt and ER, told the magazine the recognition was something he had never expected.

Wyle said his first response was to wonder whether someone was playing a joke on him. He also anticipated that friends and relatives would tease him about the title.

His wife, Sara, welcomed the choice, he said, seeing it as an endorsement of her taste. According to Wyle, she felt his qualities as a person, husband and father deserved attention.

The recognition has not erased his self-consciousness, Wyle told People. He described speaking publicly as himself without a script as more difficult than inhabiting a character.

Wyle also predicted that George Clooney would find the selection amusing and, he hoped, feel proud of him. Clooney has received the magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive title twice.
