Apple TV has made the opening two episodes of “Awkwafina: The Unlikely Cook” available to subscribers. Actor and comedian Nora Lum, known as Awkwafina, stars in and executive-produces the unscripted food series, which is scheduled to run for eight episodes through December 18.

According to Apple TV’s synopsis, Lum travels across the country to investigate contemporary Asian American cuisine, drawing on her family’s history in the restaurant business. Her family operated Lum’s, a Cantonese restaurant in Flushing, New York.

Apple TV describes Lum as unable to cook despite that upbringing. The series brings her together with chefs, restaurant operators and relatives as she learns about preparing Asian food and considers whether she can reinterpret the legacy of Lum’s.

The production is Apple TV’s second collaboration with Twofour, following “The Reluctant Traveler With Eugene Levy.” It adds to the platform’s food programming alongside “Omnivore” and “Knife Edge: Chasing Michelin Stars.”
