Jennie’s new track, “Someone to Hold,” has been released as part of the soundtrack to Steps, an animated Netflix movie scheduled for November 20. The K-pop singer also appears in animated form in the accompanying music video.

In a statement, Jennie described the track as her first song for an animated film. She said she enjoyed contributing to the project and praised the characters’ personalities. Songwriter and producer Justin Tranter said dance music provides the soundtrack’s central musical thread, with the story accommodating different voices and sounds.

Steps reworks Cinderella’s story around her stepsisters, Lilith and Margot, voiced by Ali Wong and Stephanie Hsu. Lilith takes the Fairy Godmother’s magic wand and, alongside Margot, disrupts the Royal Ball. Their actions leave the kingdom under the control of Priscilla, voiced by Nikki Glaser.

Lilith then joins Cinderella, voiced by Amanda Seyfried, on a mission to save the kingdom and their relationship. Bette Midler voices the Fairy Godmother.
