Asheville singer-songwriter MJ Lenderman has released a recording of Neil Young’s “Separate Ways” and written a foreword for a forthcoming Penguin Classics edition of Harry Crews’ novel Body. The Paris Review has published the foreword online ahead of the book’s arrival.

Body was originally published in 1990. Lenderman’s contribution to its new edition accompanies a musical release featuring a song from Young’s 2020 album Homegrown.

The cover is included on Heart Of Gold: The Songs Of Neil Young, Vol. 3 - Into The Black. That collection was released alongside Heart Of Gold: The Songs Of Neil Young, Vol. 2 - Out Of The Blue.

Lenderman has previously performed “Separate Ways” live, as well as Young’s “Lotta Love” and “Powderfinger.” He also debuted several new songs at Good Moon Festival, though no news of a follow-up to Manning Fireworks has been announced.
