Jennifer Lawrence has expressed strong reluctance to take on another role involving extensive prosthetics. In an interview with Allure, she was asked about returning as Mystique or undergoing similarly demanding makeup work, and responded negatively while stopping short of ruling it out entirely.

Lawrence described the cold sensation of airbrushing and said she was ticklish. She also recalled working with little sleep and reaching the limits of her endurance during the transformation process.

The actress portrayed Raven Darkholme, also known as Mystique, in four films between 2011 and 2019: X-Men: First Class, X-Men: Days of Future Past, X-Men: Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix.

On the Call Her Daddy podcast, Lawrence said the makeup process took eight hours each time and involved body paint and glue. By contrast, she said she enjoyed stunt work and learning the character’s movements, praising stunt double Renee Moneymaker, who also performed stunts for Katniss in The Hunger Games.
