Kevin McKidd will appear alongside Laura Fraser in the BBC drama The Young Team, Deadline reported. The casting gives the 53-year-old Scottish actor another television role following his departure from Grey’s Anatomy, where he played Dr. Owen Hunt.

Directed by Paul McGuigan, the drama centers on Azzy Williams, a teenager who spends Friday nights with friends on the streets of Airdrie, Scotland. Eager to gain acceptance into a local gang, Azzy takes a step to prove himself that puts him at the center of a violent conflict between gangs.

McKidd will portray Mr. McGiver, a headteacher described as an inspiring figure. Fraser, whose credits include Breaking Bad, will play Angela. Jakob James Smith, Connor Newall and Scot Greenan have also been cast.

According to Deadline, the production sought emerging performers through open casting across Scotland’s North Lanarkshire region.
