Billy Strings turned a Halloween performance at Baltimore's CFG Bank Arena into a Masters of the Universe tribute, appearing in a He-Man costume. His bandmates and visiting musicians also dressed as characters from the animated series, with Sierra Hull among those joining him onstage.

Music from the show opened the set before the musicians moved into covers, including 4 Non Blondes' “What's Up?” in a reference to the He-Man internet meme. Other selections included Slayer's “Skeletons of Society,” Snap!'s “The Power,” Foo Fighters' “My Hero” and Sheryl Crow's “Strong Enough.”

Explaining the preparations on Instagram Stories afterward, Strings said he had discovered the cartoons a few months earlier and begun adapting their musical themes for guitars. He also wrote two songs for the performance and invited longtime musician friends Chris Sterr and Jimmy Olson to take part.

Strings also remembered his late mother, Debra, whose birthday was Oct. 31, saying she would have enjoyed the show. He said next year's Halloween production might be his last for a while because he wants to spend the holiday trick-or-treating with his son as he grows older.
