Jenna Ortega will probably step away from television for a period after Wednesday ends, she said on the Happy Sad Confused podcast. The 24-year-old actress explained that years of television work, beginning in childhood, had left her wanting room to pursue something different.

Ortega, who plays Wednesday Addams in Netflix’s Addams Family spinoff, said she had not had many discussions about franchise roles. She also described feeling confused by Wednesday’s popularity and finding it strange to be recognized for the part.

Netflix has announced that filming for the third season is complete. That season is expected in 2027, but the number of seasons the series might ultimately run remains unclear.

Created by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar and directed by Tim Burton, Wednesday debuted in 2022. Its first season reached No. 1 in Netflix’s all-time ranking of English-language shows and spent 20 weeks in the Global Top 10. The second season ranked No. 6 on the Global list.
