Lost Highway is set to release Kacey Musgraves’ Middle Of Nowhere Vol. 2: Tex Mex Tapes on January 15. The companion to Middle Of Nowhere focuses on connections between Mexican and Texas music, with “Weekend In Texas” and “Mi Tesoro” available as previews.

Of its 16 tracks, four feature Musgraves singing in Spanish. One revisits “Uncertain, TX,” replacing the original recording’s duet partner, Willie Nelson, with regional Mexican group Intocable.

The two preview songs take different musical approaches: “Weekend In Texas” pairs pop-country with mariachi horns and organ, while “Mi Tesoro” draws on the Norteño tradition and is performed in Spanish.

The tracklist also features a live Mexico City performance of “Tú Solo Tú” with Mariachi Oro De América. Other selections include “Hard Conversations,” “Caballero,” “Rodeo” and “Before The Next Teardrop Falls.” The project follows the Tex-Mex influences Musgraves explored on Middle Of Nowhere, which also saw her perform alongside teenage mariachi musicians.
